Cindy Stark VP and Chief Financial Officer Cindy has been the CFO, as well as the COO, for BNA since 1998. Prior to that, she served as a hospital Admitting Supervisor and as a Corporate Finance Officer for several home health agencies. Her clinical training was as a Clinical Laboratory Technician. At BNA, Cindy’s responsibilities encompass finance and accounting, payer contract management, risk management, revenue enhancement, coding, HIPAA compliance and special projects. After graduating from Bowling Green University with a degree in accounting, Cindy earned an MBA and a Master’s in Health Services Administration from ASU. A former Certified Public Accountant, she is also a Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer. Cindy is a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Cindy is a history buff and enjoys tracing her genealogical roots. |

Steve Slack Director of Information Technology Steve began at BNA as a contracted employee, and joined the practice as a full time employee in 1998. His is responsible for all of the practice technology, including hardware, software, operations, networks, vendor relations and integration with affiliated hospital systems. Steve earned his BS degree in Computer Information Systems (Magna Cum Laude) from DeVry University, and recently completed his MBA, emphasizing Project Management, from Keller Graduate School. He is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP). His interests outside of work include music, sports, hiking, weight lifting, and traveling. |

Rosemary Armstrong Billing Office Director Most of Rosemary’s work history involves business office management. She has worked with a variety of physicians, including Pediatricians, Family Physicians, Rheumatologists and Trauma physicians. Rosemary joined BNA in 2007 from the Portland (Oregon) Pediatric Clinic, where she was the Business Office Manager. With her assistance, the group was selected an MGMA “Best Practice” clinic five out of the six years they applied for the designation. At BNA, Rosemary is responsible for patient collections, charge posting, cash posting, insurance and patient follow-up, patient financial counseling, and reporting to the physicians on the status of their receivables. Her interests outside of work include “hanging out” with her five grandsons, horseback riding, crafts, hiking and rafting. |

Denise Ostendorff Controller Denise came to BNA in 1998, having been in public accounting for three years. Prior to that time, she worked as an accounting manager in several different lines of business, including property management, an investment company, a collection agency, and an office equipment company. At BNA, her responsibilities include preparing financial statements, general ledger analysis and account reconciliation, organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems, and cash management. She earned a B.S. degree in Accounting at Ball State University in and became a CPA in 1990. She became an ordained minister in 2004. Denise enjoys hiking, exercise and travel. Most of her time outside the office is spent at the baseball field, watching her two children play. |

Donna Westby Manager of Support Services and Human Resources Donna came to BNA in 1986, soon after the practice was formed. Prior to that, she was the office manager for a local cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon for 12 years. She attended Glendale Community College and is a current member of SHRM. At BNA, Donna is responsible for employee recruiting and hiring, benefit administration, payroll, and the facility. When she is not working, she loves to travel to far away places. She sings second alto with her church choir, and has performed in Canterbury, England; St. Petersburg, Russia; and in various venues throughout Ireland and Wales. Her choir has recently been invited to sing at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Italy in 2008. In addition, she enjoys reading and spending time with her granddaughters and great grandson. |

Donna Nicholson Compliance Officer Donna has been BNA’s Compliance Officer since mid-2006, working as an independent consultant. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a BS degree in Nursing, and earned her Masters in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University. Donna is a Registered Nurse, as well as a Certified Healthcare Compliance Officer. Her leisure time is spent with her family. She is an accomplished equestrian, riding hunters and jumpers, and enjoys skiing, travel and reading. |

Laurie Baker Coordinator, Comprehensive Spine Program Laurie joined BNA in 2001 along with Dr. Papadopoulos. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in neurosurgery since 1997 focusing primarily on patients with spinal problems. Prior to this, Laurie also worked in cardiothoracic intensive care, lung transplantation, and nursing staff education. Besides providing comprehensive care to Dr. Papadopoulos’ patients throughout the continuum of their evaluation and surgical treatment, Laurie also coordinates the Barrow Neurosurgical Comprehensive Spine Program. Laurie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Michigan University and her Master of Science from the University of Michigan. She will complete requirements for her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Arizona State University in December 2008. Laurie is currently adjunct faculty in the Graduate Education and Advanced Practice Nursing Program at Arizona State University and frequently precepts nurse practitioner students. She was named Preceptor of the Year for the Adult Nurse Practitioner program at ASU in 2008. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys hiking, exercising and spending time with her family. |
