Dr. Mark Garrett was born in Portland, Oregon but spent
most of his childhood in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Garrett
received his BS in Neuroscience at Brigham Young University
and attended medical school at the Emory University School
of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He then completed his
neurosurgical residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute
in Phoenix where he received extensive training in skull base
neurosurgery and completed in-folded fellowships in complex
spinal disorders and stereotactic radiosurgery. Dr. Garrett also
spent time in Tanzania, Africa where he was part of a BNI
initiative to train neurosurgeons in developing countries.
During his residency Dr. Garrett lived in the East Valley and
grew to love the area.
Dr. Garrett treats patients with complex and simple cranial
and spinal disorders, utilizing the latest in surgical techniques
and instrumentation, often employing minimally invasive
approaches. Dr. Garrett strongly believes that when patients
are fully informed and have a thorough understanding of their
medical condition they are able to make the best possible
decision in collaboration with their healthcare provider.
When not at work Dr. Garrett spends his time with his wife
and 5 children. He enjoys playing most sports, primarily
basketball, having played at the collegiate level.
