Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery
Cerebrovascular/skull base procedures provide surgical treatment of vascular lesions (aneurysms, AVMs), carotid disease, and tumors that invade or involve the skull base (acoustic neuromas, meningiomas, epidermoids, etc).
Stereotactic Radiosurgery
Stereotactic radiosurgery is used to treat specific types of tumors, arteriovenous malformations, and trigeminal neuralgia, using precisely focused beams of radiation to remove unhealthy tissue from the brain. Treatments utilized by the BNA physicians include CyberKnife and Gamma Knife.
CyberKnife radiosurgery allows lesions in the body to be pinpointed accurately and treated without invasive surgery. It is used to treat vascular abnormalities; malignant and benign tumors; and cancers in the brain, spine, chest, and abdomen.
Because Gamma Knife radiosurgery requires no incision, many of the risks associated with conventional surgery are eliminated. It is relatively painless and the costs are lower than conventional surgery. The Gamma Knife is used to treat brain lesions while preserving health tissue that surrounds the lesion. |

Spinal Disorders
BNA neurosurgeons offer various surgical treatments for spinal disorder including degenerative and traumatic injuries. Treatments include decompression, reconstruction and instrumentation. Anterior, posterior and endoscopic approaches are also used. Spinal arteriovenous malformations are treated using a team approach consisting of interventional radiologists, vascular neurosurgeons, and spine specialists. |

Comprehensive treatment of the epileptic patient includes surgical treatments for primary epilepsy or tumor-related epilepsy. Minimally invasive techniques are used.
Parkinson's Disease
BNA's surgical management of Parkinson's disease includes pallidotomies, thalamotomies, and stimulators.
Pituitary Tumors
BNA physicians evaluate and treat patients who are suffering from pituitary tumors. The physicians and professional staff at BNA and BNI have more experience in treating pituitary disorders in our patients than any other medical center in the Southwest.
Hyperhidrosis
In some people, the nerves, involuntarily controlled by the Sympathetic Nervous System, can become overactive and cause extreme sweating, a condition known as hyperhidrosis. BNA physicians are able to eliminate hyperhidrosis through a surgical procedure called a thorascopic (through a scope) sympathectomy (removal of part of the sympathetic nerve chain) |
